What’s all this about then?

Anything that interests me, basically – including (but not limited to) Flash, Flex and AIR development, design, music/audio, videogames, food and beer.

I’m a Flash Platform Developer living in Sydney, Australia. I’m currently working at Euro RSCG Australia, heading up the User Experience team. I also do the odd freelance job.

I’ve been working in digital media since 1995, as a designer at first, but slowly sliding towards development as the years went by. The first website I designed & developed commercially back in ‘95 is still online in pretty much its original form (I have no idea why). I’ve been developing with Flash since it was called FutureSplash Animator and have long since grown out of any fanatical preference for Director. My work has won numerous awards, and has been nominated for an Emmy, twice. I’m passionate about user experience, user-centred design & usability… basically, I love making great websites & applications.

I’ve being playing around with computers ever since I got a TI-99/4A at the age of eight, and since then have spent an inordinate amount of my spare time programming, designing graphics, and producing music, in between bouts of gaming of course. This eventually lead me to the demoscene, when I joined the Aussie/Kiwi group Reality, where we drank lots of beer and made a few demos too.

I love to cook food from any and all cuisines and have the spice & condiment collection to prove it. I enjoy a nice drop of red or white, love a good single-malt, and could talk for hours about beer, particularly Australian and Belgian.

I live with my beautiful wife Naomi, two budgies called Whitey and (she flew away!) a budgie called Maxbot-2000, (so did he!) no budgies, and two cats called Lucy and Harry.
